A rare patriotic V for Victory sweetheart locket in yellow gold filled. The locket is heart shaped, the cover is set with a mother of pearl heart, which is the background for the enameled white gloved hand holding the red and blue letter V.
This locket dates from the late 1940s, at the end of the WW2 era, based on the material and theme.
The back cover is engraved with a wavy pinstripe pattern.
The measurements are 1 3/16 of an inch tall including the bail, by 3/4 inches wide, and 5/16 of an inch deep at the center. It weighs 4.6 grams
It is very well made of high quality materials. Even the bail is unique. Marked with a co-joined WH for the W. & H. JEWELRY CO. Inc. of Providence, RI. It is also marked 1/20 12k GF for the gold content.
The condition is very good with light signs of age. The silver line and three dots on the enamel are by design, not damage. The locket allows two photos but only one has a frame (by design). The second photo can be held by pressure.
